Global Adjusting Technical Services (GATS) appoints MICHAEL PARANJOTHY as Technical Director
It is with great pleasure that we announce that Michael Paranjothy joined Global Adjusting Technical Services (GATS) (Thailand) Co., Ltd. on 1st February 2022, as Technical Director.
Michael is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII), an Associate of the Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters (ACLA), a Senior Associate (Snr Assoc), and Certified Insurance Professional (CIP) with The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance and holds a Diploma in Loss Adjusting.
Michael brings a wealth of knowledge and experience of more than 40 years working in the insurance industry. He is an all-round Insurance Practitioner, as he started working at the Port of Singapore, boarding vessels, tackled container ship operations, did stowage planning, took on cargo operations from port clearances, conducted pre / post shipment material damage, and maintenance surveys for 3 years.
Michael joined a leading Marine Underwriter, and for the next 7 years was tasked to specialise in Marine Hull Insurance claims, handling general settlements, supervision, reporting statistics, and worked closely with Marine specialists, Average Adjusters, Surveyors, Brokers, and Re-insurers.
Not satisfied with just tackling marine claims from behind a desk, he took the bold step in 1990 to join an established international marine surveying / loss adjusting concern and conducted field claims work including Marine Hull and Cargo losses, Ship-repairers & Shipbuilders Liability Claims.
In 1993, he joined Insight Adjusters and Surveyors Pte Ltd, where at that stage there were only 7 adjusters and by the time he resigned as Director, 21 years later, it had grown more than ten-fold.
In 2014, Michael joined the Claims team with Marsh Singapore Pte Ltd., and soon took on the challenge of heading the combined claims team for Marine and Non-marine classes of Insurance. He is recognised as having built a reputable team of 18 claims handlers in his seven years with Marsh, finding favour amongst Insurers, Loss Adjusters, Lawyers, Forensic and Other Consultants as a go-to claims solutions person. He is known for his ability to settle large and complex losses promptly.
Michael will be based in Bangkok, dealing and assisting on claim assignments in Thailand and throughout Asia.
Paul J. Rabbitte, Managing Director of GATS said “We are excited with Michael joining our team in Bangkok, this strengthens our adjusting team. Michael will assist with mentoring other team members, although his main role will be handling his own caseload, which will involve him taking on assignments in Thailand and throughout Asia.
The feedback from some Reinsurers has been very positive, as those Reinsurers appreciate that Michael has returned to loss adjusting, as this enables our clients to have an additional choice when they are seeking to appoint a loss adjuster to handle their losses. Michael has built up a reputation of being someone who is proactive on losses, and as one client stated, “We know our losses are in safe hands when we appoint Michael.”
