Global Adjusting Technical Services (GATS) appoints BEN CHIN as Regional Technical Director
It is with great pleasure that we announce that Ben Chin joined Global Adjusting Technical Services (GATS) (Thailand) Co., Ltd. on 4th April 2023, as Regional Technical Director.
Ben re-joined GATS in April 2023 as Regional Technical Director bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and over 40 years of insurance industry experience, since starting his loss adjusting career in 1978. He is very experienced in the handling of all classes of general insurance claims including
Fire & BI, CAR, EAR, MB & PL claims. He is a well-known industrial expert in Fire and Business Interruption insurance and claims.
Ben started his loss adjusting career at Toplis & Harding, Singapore where he became their MD in 1991. He then joined Thomas Howell Group, International Loss Adjusters where he practised as their Chief Operating Officer/Deputy Managing Director up to 1997. In 1997, Ben joined Chubb Group of Insurance Companies initially as their Asia Pacific Head of Property Claims and eventually succeeding as Head of Claims, Asia Pacific from 2002. During his stint at Chubb, he supervised a team of competent technical claim managers in charge of Property, Liability, Marine, A&H and Financial Lines claims. He was also responsible for maintaining the Chubb’s world-renowned claim service reputation in Asia Pacific helping them maintain the best in class industry Claim Service awards. He retired from Chubb at the end of 2017 after 21 years of meritorious service.
Ben first joined GATS as Technical Director in January 2019 to provide skills training and claim technical support for GATS team of Thai adjusters. In August 2020, following the onset of the global pandemic and closing of borders, Ben left GATS to join Sedgwick Asia as their COO-Asia based in Singapore to assist with their operational and M&A challenges in Asia. He retired from his COOAsia position at the end of 2022 after 2.5 years.
Having seen both sides of the fence, Ben will use his experience and expert knowledge to support GATS on delivering quality claims management and adjusting services. For large and complex losses, Ben will ensure that the team are focused on the relevant issues to enable the claim process to flow smoothly and conclude the claim accurately and promptly to all parties’ satisfaction.
Ben Chin holds the ACII, UK professional qualification and is a Chartered Insurance Practitioner of the CII. He is fluent in English and Mandarin.
